Technique: Makiage Shibori – Stitching and crisscross binding in the shape of a motif / Ori-nui Shibori – Folded-edge stitch resist drawn tight before dyeing / Mokume Shibori – Parallel running stitches along the weft are gathered and scrunched to produce a resist that makes a wood-grain pattern. Pattern: Koi – Carp, a type of fish that, in Japan, symbolizes good fortune or luck. It is also associated with perseverance amidst adversity, strength of purpose, and abundance. In Buddhism it symbolizes courage.
