The pattern was copied from a band attached on a garment’s edge found in Ravattula Ristimki, Finland. Band is slightly asymmetric at first glance. It makes an esthetically pleasing trim on garment’s edge with red waves on the outer edge and white triangles on the inner one. This band is long enough to fully decorate a cloak, coat, dress or a tunic. It can be cut in two and used to tie leg wraps.

This burial is dated to 12th century. Amazingly, colours of this band are still well visible on retrieved fragments. More info about it is available in blog post by Mervi Pasanen.

As her research shown, this is one of the few bands preserved until now which were created by asymetrical threading of tablets and 4F4B turning sequence.

The band is handwoven of very fine threads, like the original.
