This Indian wool tweed is a unique, traditionally woven fabric in which every stage is done by hand using local resources. The artisanal process generates nowaste and doesnt use any chemicals or electricity.

The making ofthese fabrics is part of a sustainable and socio-responsible initiative, setup to support and promote artisanal crafts, in which the process is entirelyrun& operated by the women of theHimachal Pradeshtribe.

These wools are made from the hair Gaddi sheep. The sheep are sheered, and the hair is sorted into colours before being spun on a wheel called a Charkha. These yarns are then woven into fabric lengths on a hand operated loom, are softened through the process of washing with soapnut, and then felted by hand to achieve these dense and crinkled twill wool fabrics.
